Origin of Spanish colors

The red and yellow were the Spanish colours in 1920, when the Nex Mexico flag was designed. The red and yellow flag was designed in 1785 for the Spanish Navy -New Mexico is inland- and became the Spanish national and army flag in late 1843...when Mexico was already an independent country. Agreed. We have no way of knowing whether Dr. Mera got his "colors of Old Spain" from the arms of Castile, the Coronela variant of the Burgundian cross, or the 1785 ensign. It would be WP:OR to assert any of those as the source of the flag colors of New Mexico. Ibadibam (talk) 20:30, 27 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
