Can someone verify the 48% casualty fact that was in here before? Did 48% of all American combat casualties actually occur in the Civil War? -Prometheus

Good call. I added it because it was in the original stub, but it doesn't look true according to some websites.

Oh, wait. Actually, it's 4.8%. That's still a lot, but I don't think it is so significant it needs to be in the article. I have no objections if anyone else adds it, feeling otherwise. Source: http://www.geobop.com/World/NA/Topics/History/Civil_War/reference/compare/

(An old discussion, I know.) 48% was wrong, but not that far off. Checking against the numbers at Remember.gov and our own United States casualties of war, both reveal 34%. If you use the KIAs (instead of the "total deaths"), its more like 28%. Only World War II was worse in terms of American casualties. --Mrwojo 02:15, 7 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Tactical vs Operational Levels

[edit]

Right now there is no distinction made in the article. Centurion216 (talk) 01:37, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
