Dates
[edit]I didn't put dates of usage into the article, because I'm not sure of them. The article Francisco Hernández de Córdoba (discoverer of Yucatán) implies it was already in common use by 1517. The map linked in the article shows it used in 1640. I have no idea of the latest date of use. -- Jmabel | Talk 03:47, Dec 2, 2004 (UTC)
Recent addition
[edit]I've done my best to edit the recent addition to this article, but (1) it is uncited and (2) the English was weak to the point of incoherence, so I was guessing at a lot of it (and removing some that I could not guess at. I'm guessing the contributor is a native Spanish speaker. May I suggest to this person: write your content in Spanish at es:Tierra Firme (preferably, citing your sources), then drop me a note here and I will try to translate more accurately. Thanks.
-- Jmabel | Talk 00:19, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
which was a province of Venezuela, and Colombia?
[edit]Neither Venezuela nor Colombia existed until well after the time of the Province of Tierra Firme, so it could not possibly have been a province of either. Qemist (talk) 02:52, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
