North Hills Country Club controversy
[edit]This section is extremely out of date. I know that the city settled the lawsuit and bought the property over the objection of the Mayor in late 08 early 09. The course is now open. However, I have been unable to find dates and references to show this section. I would just remove it, but the controversy is still active. Just recently I read an article the Sherwood city council is worried that the 2010 budget shortfall is going to be blamed on the purchase of the golf course. Can anyone supply the dates of the vote to buy the course and to settle the lawsuit were?--ARTEST4ECHO (talk|contribs) 17:36, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
Merge discussion
[edit]I think that Gravel Ridge, Arkansas should be merged into the Gravel Ridge section completely, with a redirect to the section on Gravel Ridge here. Gravel Ridge is now part of Sherwood and the Gravel Ridge census-designated place no longer exists.
It could be easlly done by moving the Gravel Ridge Demographics section into Sherwood, with some minor editing. The rest of the information in the Gravel Ridge page is already in the Gravel Ridge section.--ARTEST4ECHO (talk|contribs) 20:08, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose. This is an encyclopedia, not a gazetteer of municipalities, and Gravel Ridge still seems to be a distinct place even if it's inside Sherwood's city limits. Moreover, history (even ancient history) is a valid topic for an encyclopedia, and Gravel Ridge's existence as a place separate from Sherwood isn't exactly ancient history (2008 is very recent). Wikipedia has plenty of articles about places that are part of larger cities, including places that were formerly separate but were annexed by the larger city. For one example, see Fountain City, Tennessee. Gravel Ridge also deserves its own article. --Orlady (talk) 20:05, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose, we don't generally merge articles on formerly independent communities into their municipalities, and I see no reason to treat this article differently. In general, we merge or redirect articles on neighborhoods if they're very tiny or if the neighborhoods are vague or undefined; Gravel Ridge historically was well defined, and the article is far past a stub. - OK. My proposal was base on the lack of distinct information. It seams that most of the information except of the Demographics section is already in the section. However, since it's not a big issue for me I have removed the proposal.--ARTEST4ECHO (talk|contribs) 21:07, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
Plans to Edit
[edit]I am a first time Wikipedia editor and I plan to add a couple of statistics about the employer firms in the city of Sherwood. I want to give more depth into the economic and business tab of the article. My statistics come straight from the United States Census Bureau so they provide reliable information.
