This page needs to be renamed or moved, to indiciate the years this senate was sitting. I understand Senators sit for six year terms (exactly) - starting on July 1 - rather than the dates that House of Reps members sit, depending on when an election is called. My memory of federal elections only include all elections being HR and half senate. Would 2002-2005 be an appropriate name, at article name should be used? Or would dates based on when they were elected (2001-2004) be better? -- Chuq 00:22, 15 Oct 2004 (UTC)
Members of the Australian Senate, 2002-2005 would be correct and consistent. I have dropped "List of" from the Reps article and we should drop it here too. Then we can create Members of the Australian Senate, 2005-2008 for the new Senators. Adam 00:39, 15 Oct 2004 (UTC)
does somebody have a list of senators who's terms are starting next year to put as an appendix to this list? Xtra 05:16, 17 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Wouldn't just the link to Members of the Australian Senate, 2005-2008 be what you are after? -- Chuq 05:35, 17 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Good point. How erroneous of me. Xtra 07:35, 17 Oct 2004 (UTC)
retired senators
[edit]i know that richard alston served part of the 2002-2005 term, but i am not sure when he retired. which other senators served part terms? Xtra 07:07, 4 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- The National Archives has a useful site with all this stuff going back to 1993. Do a google search and it should come up. Ambi 08:20, 4 Dec 2004 (UTC)
There is a complete list of Senators since 1901 at the Parliament House website, although it hasn't been updated since last year and doesn't give the date of Alston's resignation, which was 10 February 2004. Adam 08:59, 4 Dec 2004 (UTC)
