Remember, this isn't a properly proposed design yet, being more of a framework ready for any impending competition/suggestions. violet/riga (t) 7 July 2005 08:51 (UTC)
More padding
[edit]I suggest having more padding between the text and the border in the boxed templates - it looks rather cramped at the moment. Looks good, other than that! Talrias (t | e | c) 3 July 2005 23:04 (UTC)
Just one editor's opinion
[edit]Personally, I HATE colored templates on Article pages. Even the new standard for Talk pages I think should be paler than it currently is. On the other hand, I like the smaller Wikify and Cleanup designs. BlankVerse ∅ 5 July 2005 18:22 (UTC)
- Then you would support my contention that once this has been prototyped in wiki-code it should be implemented in CSS like the
class="Talk-Notice"
solution? This would allow you, and others of like mind, to over-ride the settings in your personal CSS file. --Phil | Talk July 6, 2005 08:07 (UTC)- Only once there is some better documentation on how to write a personal CSS file and all the different settings that can be changed. BlankVerse ∅ 7 July 2005 05:12 (UTC)
- Amen to that :-) Should we just be bold and write the sucker? --Phil | Talk July 7, 2005 08:44 (UTC)
- Yeah it should certainly use CSS for the designs, as the talk page templates do. BlankVerse, and indeed numerous others, could have plain/pale/personalised versions if it was easy enough to implement the CSS override, and the main thing that's stopping us is the lack of documentation. I would also love to see the CSS code used to hide certain boxes when the page is printed.
- Thanks for the comments about the smaller cleanup designs - I think that is all that is really needed on a page. violet/riga (t) 7 July 2005 08:50 (UTC)

This is a good job overall. But I have some suggestions below. Maurreen 22:56, 10 July 2005 (UTC)
Deletion
[edit]I don't like this color, too bold for my taste, but maybe that's appropriate. Maurreen
Disputes and warnings
[edit]My preference is for only one per page. I'd also prefer a more subdued color, though I like this (salmon?) better than the purple? for deletions. Any standard might also include a suggestion that reasoning be given on the talk page for why the tag is placed. Maurreen 22:56, 10 July 2005 (UTC)
Links
[edit]I don't understand the point of this tag. And although the visual appearance is good, it can be somewhat confusing because we normally put all external links in their own section. Maurreen 22:56, 10 July 2005 (UTC)
- I included it for completeness, but to be fair it's going to be plain text so I've removed it. violet/riga (t) 23:09, 10 July 2005 (UTC)
Maintenance
[edit]I've very pleased with the shrinking and the color. But I'd prefer these tags at the bottom of the page. I don't think the symbol stop sign fits the point. Maybe the text should start with "Editors:" or "Maintenance:"
On a side note, I see little value in many of maintenance tags, but I expect I'm in the minority. Maurreen 22:56, 10 July 2005 (UTC)
- I am another that finds little value in the ever-increasing number of maintenance tags. The two of us are in the minority since when they come up for votes at Templates for deletion most survive. I also think that almost all of the maintenance tags, since they are messages for Wikipedia editors and are not for the casual readers, should be restricted to article Talk pages, but that position also seems to be in the minority.
