Greek Colony

[edit]

Theres no mention of Arles being originally a Greek colony? I may do some research and post it here before editing the main page, if there are no objections.

Alignment issues

[edit]

There are alignment issues with this article - The first table (on the right) is above the text, and this table should be beside the text. --EunuchOmerta 15:39, 17 May 2006 (UTC)EunuchOmerta[reply]

Pronunciation

[edit]

How do you pronounce "Arles"? Is it "AR-ehlls" or "AR-less" or what? AThousandYoung 08:41, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's "AR-ehll." Gunslinger 04:42, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Arles on the ranking list

[edit]

Is there a referance to whether or not Arles is the best Commune in France to live in? If not, is it on the top one percent? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.164.222.87 (talk) 21:13, 8 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ancient History

[edit]

Several recent edits by anonymous Greek IPs have changed the sense of the History section by removing any references to the Greeks. I've reverted twice and don't want to dragged in to a war. This is not really my subject but I've added a new section for pre-Roman history, and used the word Phoenician rather than Greek. It's very basic. Can anyone more experienced help? There's a good separate article on the history of Arles in the French wiki. Mcewan (talk) 11:22, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ancient Greek History

[edit]

I'm not sure why any Greek would not want that information made available? As long as the sources are cited and it's well written go for it. I posted at the top of the page about this very issue before I realised that your contributions had been edited out. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.25.109.197 (talk) 12:22, 16 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ancient Ligurians this far?

[edit]

At the beginning of the history section us mentioned that the region of present-day Arles was originally inhabited by Ancient Ligurians, frankly I never heard or read about Ligurians being this far west and since there is no footnote I find the claim even more suspicious. Is there any source that could verify this claim? 95.236.204.138 (talk) 11:27, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
