[edit]

The two Showbiz411 refs should be deleted, as Showbiz411 is not an RS, per Wikipedia:USERGENERATED and WP:SELFPUB. --2603:7000:2143:8500:9908:4467:7D2D:5F71 (talk) 05:17, 19 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I would suggest that the Showbiz411 ref be deleted, as Showbiz411 is not an RS, per Wikipedia:USERGENERATED and WP:SELFPUB. --2603:7000:2143:8500:DDB2:A4E1:CCC1:91F3 (talk) 05:16, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Health section?

[edit]

I notice that much of this "health" section focuses on Aretha Franklin's weight. It is very rare for male celebrities to have "health" sections, especially those that focus on weight, regardless of body size. I think this section should be reconsidered for Ms. Franklin and in general across gender representation. For example, see Luciano Pavarotti's Wikipedia page for this discrepancy. It is well documented that women face far greater scrutiny for body shape and size than men in comparable roles in society, and that they face discrimination for not fitting a preconceived "feminine" appearance. I agree. I think generally health sections don't belong, as kind of a tabloidization, and here her health as happens with many older people became an issue toward her death, so no life long issue. Any truly relevant information can be redistributed and interwoven to other sections. -- Alanscottwalker (talk) 12:15, 12 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Aretha Franklin is dead

[edit]

“Aretha Louise Franklin (/əˈriːθə/ ə-REE-thə; March 25, 1942 – August 16, 2018) was an American singer, songwriter and pianist.[2] Referred to as the "Queen of Soul", she has twice been placed ninth in Rolling Stone's "100 Greatest Artists of All Time". With global sales of over 75 million records, Franklin is one of the best-selling music artists from the second half of the 20th century to the present.[3]”

Shouldn’t “she has” be “she was” or “she” and “is” was? 73.95.158.180 (talk) 06:27, 5 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Her placement in music polls and the sales of her music did not stop when she died, but are ongoing. Martinevans123 (talk) 10:30, 5 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

change first female artist to women artist inducted int hall of fame. R0bwill12 (talk) 17:06, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: Unnecessary – the current wording is accurate and 'women artist' or 'woman artist' would not be grammatically correct. 'Female' is an adjective whereas 'woman' is not. Irltoad (talk) 17:27, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
