Literary and cultural references

[edit]

I suggest that the play "Wappin’ Wharf - A Frightful Comedy of Pirates" By CHARLES S. BROOKS be included in the list of literary references that Wapping is connected to. http://www.gutenberg.org/files/24914/24914-h/24914-h.htm (142.150.17.243 (talk) 23:21, 16 March 2009 (UTC))[reply]

I suggest the book Four Meals and Fourpence be added to the list of literary references for Wapping. The book's author Grace Foakes wrote this as an autobiography - the fine book contains her memories and reflections on her childhood in Wapping @ 1901 - 1925. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ann c white (talkcontribs) 15:54, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

(i fully agree, but the title is in fact "4 meals for 4pence" ...) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.15.69.24 (talk) 04:37, 16 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The novel The English Monster, by Lloyd Shepherd (2012) is set largely in Wapping. The novel opens in 1585, at Execution Dock. The 1881 Ratcliffe Highway murders are a central thread in the author's dark exploration of Wapping's history over 300 years of English trade. Cambeltown (talk) 00:36, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Notable People

[edit]

The statement that Cher lived in Wapping is untrue. Her management maintained a property here for publicity purposes, but at the time she was actually living in a hotel in Mayfair. I can't cite concrete resources, unfortunately, but the godmother of her child was quite adamant about it at the time.

Oh, and I'm led to believe that Graham Norton doesn't live here any more - which is good, because I was annoyed at the way he used to stare in when walking his dogs past my house. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wikiwonko (talkcontribs) 01:11, 11 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
