Please, you do not ‘win’ a gallantry award such as the Victoria Cross - you are awarded it. Please correct ‘won’ to ‘awarded’. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 150.143.110.35 (talk) 16:14, 17 July 2022 (UTC)

[edit]Did the Ladies' College merge with the boys' school? Deb 16:37, 30 Apr 2004 (UTC)
No; it went co-educational entirely of its own accord. The Ladies' College is still very much in existence, and very much single-sex.
George W. Bush was at this school? His bio on Wiki makes no mention of it.
Possibly vandalistic edit
[edit]Not a topic I know much about, but this edit was made from an IP address from which there has been a good deal of vandalism, including to this article; someone may want to validate this material. - Jmabel | Talk 00:38, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
Distinguished Alumini
[edit]Chelsea Davy is not a distinguished alumini. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.156.251.41 (talk) 11:41, 28 March 2007 (UTC).
That is your opinion. Regardless of what you think of her, there is a wikipedia article about her (which indicates notability) that includes that fact that she attended Cheltenham College, and therefore there is no reason why she should be left of the alumni list. Loopla (talk) 09:24, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, Chelsy is notable as she has a Wikipedia page. She the ex of a member of the British Royal family. However that is very different from having distinction, the stated list description; that is what the rest of those on the list have achieved and there unfortunately is no citation given on her page of anything remotely distinguished Ms Davy has done in her own right apart from looking very personable.
- One compromise would be having another separate list of notable old Cheltenham students? Straw Cat (talk) 09:50, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
Old Cheltonians or St. George's Hospital Medical School RFC?
[edit]The St. George's Hospital Medical School RFC article states that William Edward Collins made his début for England rugby union in 1875 as a St. George’s Hospital Medical School RFC rugby footballer. However, the 1873–74 Home Nations rugby union matches has him making his début on 23 February 1874 as an Old Cheltonians rugby footballer. Was he an Old Cheltonians or St. George's Hospital Medical School RFC rugby footballer on his England début? Best Regards. DynamoDegsy (talk) 15:56, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

Just not cricket
[edit]@AssociateAffiliate: yes, Cheltenham College did have many fine young men in the 19th century who played a game or two at Lords (or similar), but that doesn't make them suitable for yet another entry in Cheltenham College#Sport. It does make them suitable for Category:People educated at Cheltenham College. I therefore suggest that we restrict the list on the college page to those who have made significant contributions at the national level (c.f. Jonah Barrington), or matched the types of international achievements that others on the list have (c.f. Allan Jay). The reason for the suggestion is that otherwise the list is unbalanced and biased, given that you're consistently adding cricketers and not selecting the most notable articles from the set in the relevant category (there are about 355 to choose from). Klbrain (talk) 00:03, 18 September 2021 (UTC)
- Addendum: Perhaps I should have headed this section Not just cricket. Klbrain (talk) 00:05, 18 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Klbrain: may I suggest a List of Old Cheltonians page? Ideally we should be attempting to link back to the main subject article as much as possible. It also invites article expansion in many cases. StickyWicket (talk) 08:56, 18 September 2021 (UTC)
- No objection from me, but I'm not a list fan because they largely replace the function of categories, but take much more work to maintain. Klbrain (talk) 09:15, 18 September 2021 (UTC)
